Maboletso Letsoalo is currently a master’s student in computational health informatics, with an academic foundation in human physiology, genetics, psychology (BSc, University of Pretoria) and bioinformatics (BMedSc Hons, University of Cape Town). Her primary research interest lies in multi-omics research, a rapidly evolving approach that leverages diverse biological data types to drive novel discoveries, enhance diagnostic precision, and address urgent clinical needs.
Deeply committed to the transformative potential of bioinformatics in public health, Maboletso is passionate about harnessing computational tools to improve healthcare accessibility and outcomes, particularly within vulnerable communities. Her focus spans disease risk assessment and early detection, with the goal of bridging scientific innovation and equitable healthcare delivery.
Beyond academic research, Maboletso is a founding member of The Catalysts Za, a youth-founded, youth-led non-profit organization dedicated to improving the educational experiences of young South Africans. Her work is rooted in the belief that meaningful transformation, whether social, scientific, or systemic, requires a deliberate investment in people and inclusive progress.
Maboletso aspires to further her studies in both fields of bioinformatics and public health with hopes to work at the intersection of research, public health, and education – all with the greater and fundamental goal of contributing to the betterment of the African continent through both scientific excellence and social advocacy.
