Following his first year in office as Vice-Chancellor (VC), Prof Mosa Moshabela shared Strategy 2030 for the period 2026 to 2030 and asked the UCT community for feedback.

Strategy 2030 was developed with input from the executive, and strategy development update presentations were conducted across the community between May and November 2025. These development update presentations shared the VC’s and executives’ rationale behind the strategy.

Further Strategy 2030 was also open to the UCT community for feedback on from 1 August to 17 October 2025. We thank students, colleagues, donors, alumni and all other interested stakeholders and partners for their feedback on the strategy.

Our vision and purpose remain ‘to unleash human potential for a fair and just society’.

Strategy 2030 has four missions, these speak to UCT’s evolution over the last nearly 200 years:

  1. Teaching and Learning
  2. Research and Internationalisation
  3. Societal and Social Responsiveness
  4. Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

Strategy 2030 was approved by Council on 6 December 2025. It will soon be launched, and regular updates will be shared with the UCT community.

Thank you to all who engaged with the draft strategy, and who helped to shape Strategy 2030.
